Join us for the Monthly Meeting & Ride to Pacific Palisades on Saturday, March the 9th, that will take us about 80 miles. Starting at Grinders in Moorpark at 0830, our Ride Captain, Danny, will lead us safely through the roads and have us back around 0400.

We will have a ride through the Santa Monica mountains to PCH. Then take PCH down to the Getty Villa. Admission is free, however parking in $15, even for motorcycles. Tickets for admission must be obtained in advance. If you are planning to go on this ride please go online and get tickets early before they sell out for the day.

A visit to the Getty Villa offers an experience of ancient Greek and Roman art in a setting that recreates a first-century Roman villa. Home to the J. Paul Getty Museum’s antiquities collection, the two-floor museum displays art that spans the 7,000 years from the end of the Stone Age to the fall of the Roman empire.

Underworld: Imagining the Afterlife
October 31, 2018–March 18, 2019

How did the ancient Greeks envision life after death? The realm of Hades, god of the Underworld, was traditionally imagined as a dreary, joyless place. Yet some individuals believed they could avoid such a fate and ensure a better outcome for their souls.

Organized around a monumental funerary vessel on loan from National Archaeological Museum in Naples and recently conserved at the Getty Villa, this exhibition explores depictions of the Underworld in the art of Greece and southern Italy. Beyond tales of famous wrongdoers and rulers of the dead, the objects on view highlight the desire for a blessed existence after death.
